About Us
In 1915 the Nutmeg Yearbook was born when it separated from the Outlook, which was the Storrs Agriculture College’s yearly publication. As it began, the junior class was originally in charge of the publication of the Nutmeg Yearbook up until 1952. In the year of 1952 the Nutmeg was taken over by the Senior class who took charge of the publication of the book until the Nutmeg undertook Organization status in the late 1960’s. From the beginning the purpose of the Nutmeg has been to record the memories and history of each graduating class.
The book has with stood change through time and in its recent history the Nutmeg undergoes yet another change. In 2002 the Nutmeg received permission to be placed on the Student Activities Fee on the student fee bill. With this addition to the fee bill, graduating seniors will no longer have to buy a Nutmeg Yearbook, but instead receive a yearbook at no additional charge in the mail the October after their graduation. This change will boost yearbook production from its 650 published books in 2003, to over 3000 books for the year 2004.
In addition to an increase in production to incorporate the distribution of books to EVERY graduating senior, the Nutmeg staff is also growing! If you’re interested in becoming part of the Nutmeg staff please contact us at nutmegyearbook@gmail.com
